MEET CARLI & ALISSE
Carli and Alisse met in 2009 working as RNs on the Mother Baby Unit at NYU Langone Medical Center. Years of working closely in a clinical setting with newborns and postpartum women has equipped them with skills and knowledge extending beyond the scope of the IBCLC. With their combined education and experience in the hospital setting they have the ability to thoroughly assess the breastfeeding couplet.
Additionally, they are aware that it is imperative to support the mother-baby couplet as a whole as this process is physically, emotionally and mentally challenging. Carli and Alisse provide emotional support as well as clinical guidance when working with their clients. Breastfeeding is natural but it doesn’t come naturally. They’ve worked with countless families and understand each journey is different. This experience allows us to meet you where you’re at and guide you on your journey.
Carli Fernandez BSN IBCLC
I worked as a nurse for 15 years at NYU Langone Medical Center on the L&D and Mother Baby Units. It is there that I gained experience and a foundation of knowledge in the postpartum and newborn phase, when breastfeeding is established. I believe that breastfeeding is a skill that can be affected by many maternal and newborn factors which can lead to challenges that need to be supported along the way. After having my own children I learned that each experience is unique. Breastfeeding didn’t come easy to me even with all the experience I had. I struggled through painful latches and cracked nipples and stuck with it because I was committed to breastfeeding. Now I know that I didn’t have to suffer through the painful latch, had I found the right support. I struggled with perfection and comparison and in the exhausting haze of new motherhood I found support through community and friends and realized that the most important thing was finding connection with my children. This is what made me want to continue my work as an IBCLC to help women through the difficult latches and build community. I am passionate about educating families and supporting them as they navigate their own journey into motherhood.

Alisse Montgomery BSN, IBCLC
I began my career as an RN on the Mother Baby Unit at NYU Langone Medical Center in 2009. Over the years I have cared for countless mother-baby couplets and carry that clinical expertise into my lactation practice. I have always felt honored to participate in such a monumental time for families. I am passionate about providing education and support to women on their transition into motherhood and providing guidance as they navigate their own personal breastfeeding journey. Despite my professional background, I found the early days of motherhood HARD. I realized that postpartum support is essential to the wellbeing of a mother. It is my goal with every consult to nurture the mother so she can nurture her child. Visits go beyond simple lactation support. I strive to provide emotional support and validation in addition to clinical guidance. I believe this approach fosters connection between mother and child which serves as the foundation for confidence and empowerment in parenting.
